My professional career got started in 2008 when I went to work for KVL A/V in small hotel in Cambridge, MA. As a student in the Audio Production and Media Technology program at The New England Institute of Art Brookline, MA I came to like the pressures and rewards of the live event world and learned many different aspects of a full production such as sound, lighting, video and projection. Two years later I was brought on as a freelancer with Terry Hanley Audio Systems and began to be part of larger scale productions and it was enough, I was hooked. Further employment opportunities led me to corporate and rental A/V companies such as SWANK A/V and Rentex Inc. My freelance connections grew and I’ve worked for many different companies nationwide including Projection National Services.
In late 2013 I landed a great gig as a house sound engineer at a club called “Church” in the Fenway area and was a mixer and system tech for almost two years. I managed an internship program and met a lot of great people in the process. Earlier that year in the spring, I started my own business called Marathon Audio Systems and began taking work under my sole proprietorship. I’ve moved the business several times since but am up and running happily in Providence, RI.
Currently, I work for a full production company called ATR Treehouse and sit as the secretary of the Boston chapter of the AES. I volunteer as a recording engineer at the North Taunton Baptist Church and do some post production of services when needed in my mix suite at home. My future plans involve working for myself as a system tech, tuning PA’s and networked audio for shows as well as teaching audio related concepts in some fashion.
