Aspen Music Festival & School – Senior Engineer
Senior Engineers are members of the Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Center (ESARC) staff which also includes a Director of Audio Production, Chief Engineer, Head Media Engineer, Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and a Dub Room/Archive Manager. This team records most of the performances for the eight-week summer season as well as provides sound reinforcement for many Aspen Music Festival and School events. The ESARC Senior Engineers record a wide variety of performing ensembles encompassing symphonic orchestras, recitals, chamber ensembles, operas and choral groups, and new music ensembles, in a variety of venues including the Benedict Music Tent, Harris Concert Hall, Wheeler Opera House, Paepcke Auditorium. Services extend to occasional live radio broadcasts as well as audio and video internet webcasts.
Qualifications: Senior Engineers should have significant prior training and experience in recording classical music and/or providing sound reinforcement for a variety of music genres and/or editing and mastering classical music. Applicants should have a positive attitude, great attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and be committed to a team effort throughout the course of the summer program.
Senior Engineers should have a degree in Audio Engineering plus 5 years of professional experience. In lieu of a degree, 8 years of professional experience will be considered acceptable. He/she must have a positive attitude, great attention to detail, and strong organization and communication skills. Commitment to a team effort throughout the course of the summer program is essential.
Senior Engineers should be prepared to follow prescribed guidelines for recording and sound reinforcement set-ups and to provide additional leadership to assist in mentoring Engineers and Assistant Engineers.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States,* have the ability to lift boxes up to 50 lbs. and have a valid driver’s license.
